Bird News from Nial Moores & Marshall Iliff
A few hours on Gadeok Do (proposed location of the new Expo-linked Busan International Airport), where highlights included probably 3 Russet Sparrow (very local in summer away from Ulleung Do); at least two Black Paradise Flycatcher; and great views of a Northern Boobook. In addition, Black Kite (presumably breeding here) and 9 Crested Honey Buzzard, latter on active migration. In the northwest, in the impounded bay, a Chinese Egret and most surprising of all a massive River Otter that emerged from underneath someone’s car in a small harbour – both of us were too shocked to even try to get an image!
