Seminar on Bird Strike Risk at the Proposed Gadeok Do Airport, Busan, March 9

On March 9th, a seminar was held in Daehang Village on Gadeok Island in Busan – a village that will be buried completely if the proposed airport is built here, with construction slated for later this year.

The seminar was part of ongoing preparation for the legal challenge against this airport. Approximately 70 people were in attendance, including many high-profile activists from across the nation.

In addition to the main presentation looking at ICAO guidance and the bird strike risk (see the pdf file below – the Korean version is posted separately), important short speeches were also given by two informal “Friends” of Birds Korea – Dr Kim Nahee (the coordinator of the Citizens Alliance against the Saemangeum New Airport), and Attorney Choi Jae Hong.
