Bird News from Nial Moores with Prof. Kaei Nasu

In mild but breezy conditions with a falling tide sadly no joy at the Nakdong Estuary in finding Relict Gull – with the best compensation a wonderul but still long-range adult Steller’s Sea Eagle.  In nearby Janggyu, highlights included 8-10 Cinereous Vulture, c. 10 Baikal Teal, single Eurasian Hoopoe, a hybrid lugens x leucopsis White Wagtail and excellent views of a large swarm of delightfully-confiding Vinous-throated Parrotbill. The day – and birding year – finished at  Junam Reservoir where species of greatest note included c. 900 Baikal Teal, two Hooded Crane and several dozen White-naped Crane.
