Dr. Bernhard Seliger (Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea, Birds Korea)
Taejongdae Park is a landmark in Western Busan, with a long, royal history, and quite popular with visitors and the usual noise related to them. It is also a key birding site in Busan.
Not too many species, and surprisingly (for me) completely empty sea, beside a flock of Black-tailed Gulls and a single Gray Heron at the rocks West of the park. Not a single duck or cormorant. Maybe, because there were many fishermen? Or is it usual at this time of the year, are they all on breeding sites in the North?
Inside the park, lots and lots of Large-billed crows, and an assortment of small passerines like Warbling White-eyes, Great tits, Long-tailed Tits, a single Yellow-bellied tit, Blue-and-white flycatcher, Yellow-throated Bunting, a few thrushes, two Chinese (Yellow-billed) Grosbeaks and on the rocks everywhere Blue Rock Thrushes. In the rocks a Peregrine falcon, obviously breeding nearby.
Still, it was a pleasant morning walk.
