Volunteers, teachers, and children are working together to produce an animation of a Spoony on its migration, while sharing the story of the Spoon-billed Sandpiper and discussing the obstacles it faces across the flyway. Participating areas and countries include Russia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and the Republic of Korea.

Birds Korea has invited schools and classes in the ROK to participate, including a class of my 5th grade students at Obang Elementary School in Gimhae. With the help of my co-teacher, we talked about the flyway, the many challenges Spoonies face, and why we were bringing attention to the critically endangered species. Our students were excited to join the team working to help Spoonies.

Birds Korea invites you too to contribute to the project.

If you are a teacher and would like your students to participate, please take this is great opportunity to help Spoon-billed Sandpiper.
