{"id":4699,"date":"2012-05-31T16:16:53","date_gmt":"2012-05-31T07:16:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=4699"},"modified":"2013-04-16T20:18:31","modified_gmt":"2013-04-16T11:18:31","slug":"yubu-do-may-27th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=4699","title":{"rendered":"Yubu-do, May 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Bird Report by Jason Loghry with Park Seonyeong and Bradlee Sulentic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of our research on the critically endangered Spoon-billed Sandpiper, our team set out early on Saturday morning to survey Yubu Island. It was a long day and unfortunately we were unable to find a single SBS. There were less than 2000 birds on the tidal flat, and highest numbers were observed at the first high tide. Highlights included <strong>Broad-billed Sandpiper<\/strong>, <strong>Red-necked Stint<\/strong>, <strong>Sanderling<\/strong> (<em>including an individual <strong>flagged Orange over Yellow<\/strong> on right leg and ringed on left and another individual <strong>flagged White over Orange<\/strong><\/em>), <strong>Sharp-tailed Sandpiper<\/strong>, some <strong>Dunlin<\/strong>, <strong>Eurasian<\/strong> and <strong>Far Eastern Curlew<\/strong>, with more of the latter, <strong>Ruddy Turnstone<\/strong>, <strong>Terek Sandpiper<\/strong>, <strong>Grey-tailed Tattler<\/strong>, a single  <strong>Whimbrel<\/strong>, <strong>Kentish Plover<\/strong>, some gorgeous <strong>Mongolian Plovers<\/strong>, <strong>Grey Plover<\/strong>, <strong>Greater Sand Plover<\/strong>, <strong>Bar-tailed Godwit<\/strong>, <strong>Great Knot<\/strong>, <strong>Little Tern<\/strong>, <strong>Black-faced Spoonbill<\/strong> (5), <strong>Eurasian Oystercatcher<\/strong> (less than 200), and <strong>Eurasian Cuckoo<\/strong>, <strong>Oriental Reed Warbler<\/strong>, and <strong>Tiger Shrike<\/strong> on the island. <\/p>\n<p>*Also, important to add that Dr. Nial Moores also surveyed the Nakdong Estuary on the 26th of May and although there was a Spoon-billed Sandpiper previously reported, no Spoon-billed Sandpipers were observed.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo-1-e1338445526111.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[4699]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo-1-e1338445649972.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Park Seonyeong surveying the tidal flat at Yubu-do, May 2012.\" width=\"575\" height=\"429\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo-1-e1338445649972.jpg 575w, https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo-1-e1338445649972-300x223.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/a><\/center><center>Birds Korean <strong>Park Seonyeong<\/strong> observing shorebirds feeding at Yubu-do.<\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bird Report by Jason Loghry with Park Seonyeong and Bradlee Sulentic.
