Being a public holiday both sites were very busy, especially at Junam.<\/p>\n<p>Upo Wetland was largely frozen with just gangs of <strong>common dabbling duck and pochard<\/strong> on the few areas of open water together with 110 <strong>Whooper Swans<\/strong>, 400 <strong>Bean and 100 White-fronted Geese<\/strong>. The best bird was a young <strong>White-tailed Eagle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?attachment_id=2997\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2997\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2997\" title=\"21. We visited Junam again on the way back from Busan on the evening of 6th January. We arrived here around midday on 4th January and stayed until the evening of the 5th. <strong>Hooded Cranes<\/strong> were in good numbers: we counted at least 500 birds. With them were four <strong>Common Cranes<\/strong> and a sprinkling of hybrids between the two species. Also present were at least 30 <strong>Cinereous Vultures<\/strong>. Other species included <strong>Osprey<\/strong>, <strong>Rough-legged Buzzard<\/strong> and <strong>Short-eared Owl<\/strong>, 300+ <strong>Saunder\u2019s Gulls<\/strong>, another <strong>Hoopoe<\/strong> and two <strong>Common Starling<\/strong> with 75 <strong>Grey Starlings<\/strong>. This produced at least three immature <strong>Steller\u2019s Sea Eagles<\/strong> and four or more <strong>White-tailed Eagles<\/strong> including at least two adults.
