{"id":21511,"date":"2019-01-03T23:25:43","date_gmt":"2019-01-03T14:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=21511"},"modified":"2019-01-03T23:25:55","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T14:25:55","slug":"south-east-december-31-2018-january-2-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=21511","title":{"rendered":"South-east, December 31, 2018 &#038; January 2, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bird News from Nial Moores with Jason Loghry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On December 31, much of the day was spent in Taejongdae in Busan where highlights included good views of one (rather self-conscious!) <strong>White\u2019s Thrush<\/strong>, <strong>Red-flanked Bluetail<\/strong>, good numbers <strong>of Japanese White-eye<\/strong> and <strong>Yellow-bellied Tit<\/strong> (with 21 of the latter), and a small movement of loons offshore, with 35 <strong>Pacific<\/strong> counted going south in only 15 minutes. Although there were very oddly no Aythya here, highlights nonetheless included a single young <strong>Steller\u2019s Sea Eagle<\/strong> (perhaps my first at this site), a distant <strong>Eurasian Bittern<\/strong> spotted spectacularly by JL; small numbers of <strong>Baikal Teal<\/strong> (perhaps 160 in total); and at least 260 <strong>White-naped Cranes<\/strong> in the evening.
