Island, April 28-29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bird News from Nial Moores<\/p>\n<p>In clear conditions with westerly then southwesterly winds, plenty of species on the move.<\/p>\n<p>From the ferry on the 28<sup>th<\/sup>, two <strong>Northern Boobook<\/strong> , nine <strong>Ancient Murrelet<\/strong> and 4-5 <strong>Red-throated Loon<\/strong> were the highlights, with species of note in the afternoon on the island itself including four <strong>American Scoter<\/strong> still, two <strong>Daurian Starling<\/strong>, a <strong>Black Drongo<\/strong> and good numbers of regular migrants \u2013 including a half-dozen <strong>Richard\u2019s Pipit<\/strong>, a dozen or more <strong>Stejneger\u2019s Stonechat<\/strong>, 50+ <strong>Yellow-browed Warbler<\/strong>, and 5-6 <strong>Ochre-rumped<\/strong>, 30+ <strong>Chestnut-eared<\/strong>, 35-50 <strong>Yellow-browed, <\/strong>100+ <strong>Black-faced<\/strong> and 150 <strong>Little Buntings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p pusilla <\/i>\u00a9 Nial Moores<\/p>\n<p>On the 29<sup>th<\/sup>, a (tragically oiled) <strong>Red-throated Loon<\/strong> was \u201cyodeling\u201d on a reservoir; and although there seemed to be fewer buntings around, there were three more species of starling (a dozen <strong>White-cheeked<\/strong>, 2+ <strong>Red-billed<\/strong> and rarest in the Korean context, a single <strong>White-shouldered Starling<\/strong>) and a good mix of wagtails, including two adult male <em>taivana<\/em> <strong>Eastern Yellow<\/strong> and a <strong>Citrine<\/strong>. There was also a decent spread of shorebirds which included single <strong>Black-winged Stilt<\/strong> and <strong>Pin-tailed Snipe<\/strong>, 3-4 <strong>Far Eastern Oystercatcher<\/strong>, 3+ <strong>Wood Sandpiper<\/strong> and three <strong>Long-toed Stint<\/strong> &#8211; with the day&#8217;s highlight a <strong>Grey-headed Lapwing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img
