Bird news from Bernhard Seliger with Ji-Hyun Park, Johann Seliger and Joseph Seliger<\/p>\n

Following are some photos from a (mainly not-bird-themed!) trip to Jeju-do. Around the Jumun beach resort, thrushes, wagtails, tits, flycatcher and other small birds where seen, including the well-hidden, but vocal Japanese Bush Warbler<\/strong>, with Grey Herons<\/strong> from a nearby breeding colony overflying the area.<\/p>\n

A trip up to Hallasan (with 1200 m heights different up and down, totaling almost 20 km, quite exhausting), brought views of different kinds of buntings, tits, Red-flanked Bluetail and a Forest Wagtail, plus abundant Large-billed crows. In the evening, Siberian Roe Deer, which during the peak of walking, when masses ascended and descended the mountain, where hidden in the covert and at most could be glimpsed or heard, became increasingly confiding, grazing close by the almost deserted hiking trail.<\/p>\n

Mara-Do is the southernmost islet of Korea. Here, many migrants from the south and China arrive first, including at this time numerous Stejneger’s Stonechats<\/strong>, wagtails, and flycatchers.<\/p>\n

Finally, again in Jumun beach, we saw a Pacific Reef Heron<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
