{"id":18197,"date":"2016-06-03T13:20:31","date_gmt":"2016-06-03T04:20:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=18197"},"modified":"2016-06-03T13:22:56","modified_gmt":"2016-06-03T04:22:56","slug":"shorebirds-of-the-flyway-bbc-radio-and-abc-radio-australia-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=18197","title":{"rendered":"Shorebirds of the Flyway: BBC Radio and ABC Radio (Australia) Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first of four fascinating radio programs looking at shorebird conservation on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway is now available for listening and download <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/radionational\/programs\/offtrack\/flying-for-your-life-1\/7461802\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Program One is set in Australia and has interviews with a range of experts many of whom will already be familiar to Birds Koreans, including Chris Hassel of the <a href=\"http:\/\/globalflywaynetwork.com.au\/\">Global Flyway Network<\/a>,\u00a0Phil Straw of the <a href=\"http:\/\/awsg.org.au\/\">Australasian Wader Studies Group<\/a> and Prof. Rich Fuller at the University of Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>As Prof. Fuller notes on the results of an Australia-wide review of ten main migratory shorebird species, &#8220;the news is incredibly depressing&#8230;Seven out of the ten species we have studied are in highly significant national decline; two species, the (Far) Eastern Curlew and Curlew Sandpiper have declined by more than 80% in three generations.
