{"id":1419,"date":"2011-09-26T20:05:58","date_gmt":"2011-09-26T11:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=1419"},"modified":"2011-09-26T20:05:58","modified_gmt":"2011-09-26T11:05:58","slug":"seonjae-daebu-yongheung-islands-september-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=1419","title":{"rendered":"Seonjae, Daebu &#038; Yongheung Islands, September 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><u>Bird News from Tim Edelsten  with Lee Ye-Da, Lee Eun-Ju &#038; Lee Hyun-Sook<\/b><\/u><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nAlthough birding was secondary, it didn&#8217;t take much to notice several <strong>Chinese Egret, Whimbrels<\/strong> and a <strong>Eurasian Curlew<\/strong> at Sonjae-do: fortunately there also remains fairly extensive mudflat around Yongheung-do. <\/p>\n<p>\n<center><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?attachment_id=1421\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1421\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MudflatYongheung.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"MudflatYongheung\" width=\"600\" height=\"347\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MudflatYongheung.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/MudflatYongheung-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMudflat at Yongheung<br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>\nReclamation is a lot more apparent around Daebu-do, although these areas form temporary wetland at least until they are later built on. At one such area today, a brief stroll quickly noted a <strong>Western Osprey<\/strong>, a loose circling trio of <strong>Northern Goshawk<\/strong> and a <strong>Hobby<\/strong> patrolling the grasslands: in reeds a <strong>Common Kingfisher, Yellow Bittern<\/strong> and pair of <strong>Mallard<\/strong> (breeding?).<\/p>\n<p>\n<center><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?attachment_id=1424\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1424\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/FormerMudflatDaebu.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"FormerMudflatDaebu\" width=\"600\" height=\"345\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/FormerMudflatDaebu.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/FormerMudflatDaebu-300x172.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>Former Mudflat, Daebu<br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>\nLarge new wind turbines are now in place on Yongheung and Daebu islands.
