Bird News from Tim Edelsten<\/p>\n

Most noteworthy offshore were 1600+ Great Crested Grebe <\/b>idling in the bay, where also e.g. a close pair of Horned Grebe<\/b>, a Harlequin<\/b>, a Black-necked Grebe<\/b>, four Ancient Murrelet <\/b>and a Goldeneye<\/b>. Unfortunately the murrelets spent much time diving around driftnets, obviously attracted to the catch in them – but unable to sense the danger. <\/p>\n

Near the mouth of the Namdae Stream, best was a hovering Rough-legged Buzzard<\/b>, several Saunders’s Gull<\/b>, a circling White-tailed Eagle<\/b> and five Northern Lapwing<\/b>. Also present e.g. two Sanderling<\/b>, a Long-billed Plover<\/b>, about 15 Gadwall<\/b>, 15 Common Merganser <\/b>and 20 Eurasian Wigeon <\/b>amongst other common species.<\/p>\n
