The Subtitles Translation Project<\/strong><\/p>\n

All three movies in the Busan Climate Change Film Festival are screening in English with Korean subtitles, and Sunny Yun (Birds Korean) and her “International Home School” middle school-aged students provided the high quality translated subtitles for Chasing Ice<\/a>. Commenting on the heavy translation workload for the students, Sunny Yun, the bilingual teacher says: <\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve watched so many movies and documentaries related to climate change, and I\u2019ve felt that those are good movies but they\u2019re not effective at showing how global warming is caused by natural and human causes, but when I watched this movie by James Balog — definitely this photographer knows how to share these issues by letting pictures talk; he has an ability to force people to think about the issues that we all need to be aware of and act upon — his contribution by this piece of work for the present and future was simply astonishing, so I wanted to share that with people in Korea, and also my students.<\/p>\n

“And that\u2019s how I was motivated to translate the subtitles into Korean, and I invited the students to do that with me. They were very much motivated and feel responsible to contribute to Korean society by translating the script into Korean; I was very happy and inspired by their active participation.”<\/p>\n
