I found these feathers on Socheong Island on May 26th 2010.\u00a0 I had\u00a0found many feathers that\u00a0year and all were quite easily identifiable- except for these:<\/p>\n

Note that the primaries have quite a distinctive shape:<\/p>\n

\"Primaries1A\"<\/a><\/p>\n

-and the (presumed) secondaries fade into white:<\/p>\n

\"PrimariesSecondaries\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I have been stumped as to their identity for years- they do not match any online wingspreads or field guides for the region. However today I noticed a photo of a Swinhoes Rail\u00a0on OBC Images(initially\u00a0linked to\u00a0on facebook by Mr J Loghry)\u00a0and it strikes me how similar the pattern is:<\/p>\n

Perhaps other crakes\/ rails have something similar?<\/p>\n
