{"id":13029,"date":"2014-06-20T22:03:05","date_gmt":"2014-06-20T13:03:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=13029"},"modified":"2014-06-21T10:20:54","modified_gmt":"2014-06-21T01:20:54","slug":"northeast-sites-june-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.birdskoreablog.org\/?p=13029","title":{"rendered":"Northeast Sites, June 19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bird News from Robin Newlin<\/p>\n<p>The need to change trains at Maseok was serendipitous: a <b>Ruddy Kingfisher<\/b> first heard then seen (!) from the subway platform when it flew across the green village valley.<\/p>\n<p>At the <b>Eastern<\/b> <b>Tawny Owl<\/b> site, the 3 youngsters (hard not to call them the 3 Mouseketeers) showed well, if in very dim, shady, early morning light. They seem to be flourishing: staying close together but one or the other sometimes venturing a little away to explore. All three fly now, with varying confidence.<\/p>\n<p>Also in the area: 4 <b>Yellow-rumped Flycatchers<\/b>, 2 <b>Oriental Dollarbirds<\/b>, an <b>Eastern Crowned Warbler<\/b> (heard only), various <b>Black-naped Orioles<\/b>, <b>Pygmy <\/b>and <b>Great Spotted Woodpeckers<\/b>, a <b>Spot-billed Duck<\/b> with young, a <b>Striated Heron<\/b>, 2 <b>Grey Herons<\/b>,, a <b>Eurasian Hobby<\/b>, a <b>White Wagtail<\/b> (heard), some <b>Vinous-throated Parrotbills<\/b>, calling <b>Common<\/b> and <b>Indian Cuckoos<\/b>, and several <b>Eurasian Nuthatches<\/b>. A resident (non-native) Peacock gave spectacular visual and vocal displays.
