A call from Mr. Im led to an impromptu and very enjoyable afternoon out to various Seoul hotspots. First call was the Han River near Oksu, where we found the long-staying\u00a0<b>Baer\u2019s Pochard<\/b>\u00a0(only my second sighting in 5 recent visits &#8211; the bird can be surprisingly hard to find, bright plumage notwithstanding), 2 \u201cpure-looking\u201d\u00a0<b>Ferruginous Ducks<\/b>, one \u201cFerruginous type,\u201d one possible Common Pochard-(?) hybrid, several\u00a0<b>Greater Scaup<\/b>, many but somewhat diminishing numbers of\u00a0<b>Tufted Ducks\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0<b>Common Pochards<\/b>, a scattering of\u00a0<b>Pintails<\/b>,\u00a0<b>Eastern Spot-billed Ducks<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>Smews<\/b>, and two\u00a0<b>Baikal Teal,\u00a0<\/b>distant but brilliant in the sunlight.<\/p>\n<p>Word from various birders at Oksu sent us off to Amsa on our way home: there we had brief and occasional views of the famous\u00a0<b>European Robin<\/b>.
