Usop Swamp (Naju), January 9

Bird news from Andreas Kim

In the late morning with sunshine and very cold wind when arriving at the Usop Swamp a big flock of Taiga Bean Geese just flew off and started a position change of geese and Whopper Swans; most geese moved to the back of the swap and most swans to the front. The water must have been very cold, as most of the old stems of the lotus plants had little ice rosettes. Estimated numbers of birds seen are: c. 1500+ Taiga Bean Geese, c. 100 Whopper Swans, c. 50 Eurasian Teal, c. 30 Mallard, several Eurasian Coot, 2 Great Egret and 1 Grey Heron.
