Daejin, January 16

Bird news from Subhojit Chakladar and Marco Della Seta

A boat trip off the coast of Daejin over very calm seas and relatively mild temperatures produced some very close and satisfying views. Highlights included thousands of gulls, 8 Brunnich’s Murres, 4 Common Murres, ~12 Rhinoceros Auklets, 1 Spectacled Guillemot, 800~1000 Ancient Murrelets, low numbers of Loons (almost all of them Arctic), along with occasional flocks of White-winged Scoters and about 6 American Scoters in flight from the shore.
