The international Spoon-billed Sandpiper Task Force is still keen to receive all records of Spoon-billed Sandpiper in the ROK in order to help refine understanding of this Critically Endangered species’ population trend and movements.
In return they can help with providing a history of most of the marked birds that are seen, including these two photographed by Chai Seung-Hoon in the Geum Estuary on September 28th this year, images kindly shared with Birds Korea:
From Sayam Choudhury, SBS Task Force (October 1st 2015):
“Based on the information provided by Pavel Tomkovich & Ronlad Digby the white flag – U6 hatched in an incubator on 11 July, released in the wild near Meinypilgyno, Chukotka on 29 July where it was last seen on 5 August. The yellow flagged bird had to be marked at west-central Kamchatka, Russia, in August during their southward passage.”
