Taewhagang, Ulsan January 18

Bird News from Johan Kok

My wife joined me for a leisurely walk along the Jung-gu section of the Taewhagang in Ulsan.  This time we walked east toward Nam-gu, from the sports fields toward the foot bridge and a bit beyond. It proved to be a productive section with 6 species of duck spotted:  Eastern Spot-billed Duck, Eurasian Teal, Mallard, Common Pochard,Gadwall and the highlight of the day a pair of Tufted ducks.  We also saw Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Grey Heron, Little Egret, Common Moorhen, Blackheaded Gull, Yellowthroated Bunting, Vinousthroated Parrotbill, Browneared Bulbul, Bullheaded Shrike, Oriental Turtle Dove, Eurasian Magpie,Eurasian Kestrel and Eurasian Coot.  Altogether a great day out.
