In a country where developers seem to have a cringe-worthy disregard for the environmental consequences of their relentless large-scale projects, is this another troubling sign of things to come? When there is no viable peninsular land left to develop (ruin) for profit, will Korea’s offshore islands be next on the block? Will we see a golf course on Gageo? A massive resort on Eocheong? Are Korea’s islands really for sale to the highest bidder? Let’s hope not.
